Dissection Lab Application

What we expect from you

Logistics

Other considerations

You’ll be expected to wear PPE throughout your time in the lab itself, which we’ll cover on Day 1 and which will be provided to you daily.

Plan to wear clothing you will be comfortable in for 8 hours a day. Because temperatures can fluctuate from morning to evening with a lot of bodies in the room, you may wish to bring a long sleeve scrub shirt to wear underneath.

The most important thing is comfortable shoes! My personal favorite pair are these https://a.co/d/05bbLg2H which can be found on amazon for less than $25. I am not sponsored by any products I recommend.

Purchase (if you don’t already have one) and bring an anatomy atlas.

  • For the most stunningly beautiful and exactingly accurate illustrations, get Atlas of Human Anatomy and Surgery by Bourgery and Jacobs, completed in the 1830s. Note that most structures are not labeled and the book is in both English and French.
  • For the best quick reference, get Atlas of Anatomy by Anne M. Gilroy. This is the most basic in terms of illustration but labeling and tables of physiology are outstanding for those newer to anatomy education.
  • For the OG favorite, get Netter Atlas of Human Anatomy by Frank Netter, a surgeon and medical illustrator who did all of his own art. Highly detailed, well labeled, and a joy to leaf through.
